Mary L. Ross

Mary L. Ross, 81, passed away in Des Moines on August 26, 2019, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. She was born in Earling, Iowa, on August 24, 1938, to parents William and Stella Graeve.

Mary worked at Plaza Lanes for 31 years until her retirement in 2008. She had a love for bowling, collecting angels, and staying warm with a quilt on her lap. Mary was also a devout Catholic and a member of All Saints Catholic Church. Above all else, she cherished her family and loved spoiling her grandchildren. Mary was the greatest grandma and was lovingly referred to as Granny Garbanzo by Casie Jo and Joey.

Mary is survived by her sons, Steve (Marcie) Ross, Roger (Dawn) Ross, and Lenny Ross; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers and 2 sisters; as well as many many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Stella Graeve, 1 brother and 1 sister.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2019, at All Saints Catholic Church, 650 NE 52nd Avenue in Des Moines with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines.
