Patricia "Willie" Anne Offerman
August 25, 2019
Patricia “Willie” Anne Offerman, 74, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on August 25, 2019. A reception will be held Friday, August 30, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, IA.
Willie was born April 4, 1945 in Camp Kilmer, NJ to Charles Elbert and Mary Patricia Ritter. She graduated from Des Plaines High School in Illinois and married David Rudolph Offerman on September 11, 1965. They raised their three children and Willie later graduated from the University of Iowa in 1994 and taught English. She taught for 14 years at Louisa Muscatine High School in Letts, IA and retired in 2009.
In her free time, Willie was a member of the Des Moines Weavers and Spinners Guild. She spun her own yarn using mixed fibers and knitted beautiful blankets and shawls. Willie was an exceptional grandmother. She truly enjoyed time with her dear grandchildren. Willie loved to travel with her friends and family and they explored numerous destinations throughout the years. She was also an avid supporter of the arts in Des Moines.
Willie will be dearly missed by her beloved family; her children, David (Christine), Adam (Katie), Anne (Jeff) Ades; grandchildren, Aidan, Adalyn, Cole and Lilly; sister-in-law, Laura Lu (Judd) Anderson; and her nieces and nephew, Sarah, Erika, Ellen and Jake. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and brother, Thomas “Terry” Ritter.

I'm sorry to hear about your sad loss. I heard from cousin Maria in San Antonio who heard from Adam. Very sad news for such a lovely lady. Did not know she was ill. The last time I saw her was at Aunt Millie Ritter's 100th Birthday in San Antonio in September 2010.
My deepest condolences.
Warm regards,
David, Lorna Ross and Eve Mirmelli in Scotland.

Sincere Condolences to the Offerman family. Wille was my first cousin, she had a gift for relating to people and making them feel good, myself included. I have wonderful memories of growing up around her especially the Christmas holidays with the family at the Ritter household in Des Plaines. I have a special place in my heart for her. So sorry for your loss.

Willie touched the lives of so many through her participation and support of fiber arts. She was a very skilled weaver, spinner and knitter and created beautiful art. I will remember her fondly as my knitting mentor. She shared her love and skill in weaving, spinning and knitting with so many people. She inspired me to explore new techniques and to share them with others. Willie will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Offerman will always hold a special place for teaching me how important a mistake free resume is, how one page typed and double-spaced is 250 words, and more importantly, how to relate to students and make them feel valued. May she rest in peace and her family find comfort in the knowledge that she positively impacted so many lives.

The Offerman family:
I'm so very sorry to hear of Willies passing. Willie, or Mrs. Offerman, as I knew her in high school, was my speech teacher, she was a funny, charismatic, woman whom was serious about her english. ??
Friends with her daughter, Anne through high school, I've had many nights spent at the Offerman A frame outside of Grandview. I have tons of memories with Willie and Anne that I'll hold a little closer now. Keeping you all in my thoughts, and sending prayers for strength, and understanding. (Hugs) ??
