Jacquelin Kail
August 24, 2019
Jacquelin J. Kail, 77, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2019. Jackie was born to Jack and Jewell Lane on October 5, 1941 in Des Moines, Iowa. She married Richard Kail on October 9, 1959 at Grace United Methodist Church, the same church she was baptized in. Her faith was very important to her! Jackie was employed as a store manager and a real estate agent with Iowa Realty for most of her career.
When not taking care of her family Jackie enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening, exercising and dancing. She was a member of the Police Auxiliary for 34 years. She especially loved to cook for her family and friends. Some of her most favorite things to do were traveling around the world with the love of her life, spending time with her dogs, and most importantly, spoiling her grandsons. Anyone that knew Jackie will remember her infectious laugh and her amazing strength.
Left to mourn her loss are her husband, Richard; son, Rick (Becky) San Diego, CA; daughter, Shelly (Tim)Tyler Des Moines, IA; grandsons, Jake, Des Moines, IA, and Zak (Kate), Ames, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Richard and Jackie were reunited on September 12, 2019 when Richard passed away. Joint services will be held at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, the anniversary of the day they first met. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. followed by the memorial service at 6:00 p.m.

Shelly and Rick: Steve and Robyn called me to give me the news about your mom. I was very sad to hear this. I ran into your parents a few months ago and it was great to see them. I have lots of great memories of your mom and family when I was at Drake and then later after I graduated. They treated me like royalty....many fun dinners, events and lots of laughter!!! I will remember your mom as a very kind and gracious lady.....I was honored to know her! If there is anything I can do, dont hesitate to contact me!

We are so sad to learn of Jackie's passing. In the days when my late wife and I could make the journey from Colorado to attend Iowa football games, we would meet Richard and Jackie for tailgating and going out for dinner in the Amanas. It was great fun with wonderful people. How sad it is that Richard and I are the two remaining from that foursome. Charly and Judy

Your mom was a true lady. She was stylish and always had a smile on. I will remember her for her giggle and her smile. We shared a few laughs here and there at the police conventions. Along side of your dad. She also liked to tell me about her grandsons. She was a proud grandma.
How blessed you all are to have her as your mom.

I am truly sorry for your loss Richard. I grew up with Jackie and we were neighbors from when she lived at 33rd and Crocker. I guess that I am getting quite melancholy with the loss of all of my school mates. May you and your family find peace and comfort knowing that she is in good hands.
