Joshua Kingery, 31, passed away August 18, 2019, in Des Moines. He was born on August 20, 1987, to Jerry and Anna Kingery.
Josh graduated from Ankeny High School in 2006. He worked for the Des Moines Police Department for many years.
His warm and generous personality was highly valued by all who knew him. Josh was always happy and was best at making others laugh. He had a love for collecting Air Jordan shoes, music, and all sports, especially basketball and football.
Josh is survived by his parents, Jerry and Anna; brothers, Jim (Joyce), John (Shilae), and Joe (Jessica); sister, Laura (Fred) Lucas; nieces and nephews, Dominic, Alora, Caitlin, Isabella, Ethan, and one on the way; as well as other loving family and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his close cousin and best friend, Dave Hodson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2019, at Grace Church, 4200 E. 25th Street in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Berwick Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Wednesday evening from 4-8 p.m. at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines.
The family encourages everyone to wear Air Jordans to the visitation and service to honor Josh and his vast collection of Jordan shoes.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Josh.

I'm very sorry, Anna! You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers! I'm thankful I got to know Josh and work with him! We had so many great times together and a lot of laughs! Making people laugh and smile was his specialty! I will miss my dear friend!
