Earl "Skip" Kalar

Earl James Kalar, age 66, passed away Monday, August 12, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
Earl was born January 24, 1953 in Des Moines, Iowa to Everett and Emma (Donaldson) Kalar. He was a very proud father who loved bragging about his girls. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was an extremely hard working man who worked as a welder/fabricator and mechanic for Champion Crane and was a member of Operating Engineers Local #234. Earl enjoyed working on cars in his free time.
He is survived by his daughters, Melisa Haes (Jason) and Tina Kalar (Laura); son, Tony Weese; grandchildren, Makayla, Mikayla, Katarina and Jacob; common-law spouse, Sue Kinney; and other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Emma Kalar; his twin sister, Earla; and his sister, Marian.
Visitation will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 19, 2019. A graveside service will take place at Iowa Veterans Cemetery, 34024 Veterans Memorial Drive, Adel at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2019.
