Ted Snell

Ted L. Snell, 84, of Des Moines, passed away Thursday at home. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 16, 2009 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street; visitation will be 2-4 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Sunset Cemetery.
Ted was born December 8, 1924 in Warren County, Iowa to James and Dorothy Snell. He served in the United States Navy from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1946. Ted married Pauline Chapman on September 20, 1947. He worked for Western Electric for 33 years, retiring in 1981. Ted was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed fishing, traveling and spending time with his family.
Ted is survived by his loving wife, Pauline; his daughter, Sharon (Dan) Lyons; his grandchildren, Keri (Eric) Kenoyer, BJ Lyons, Melissa Snell and Donovan (April) Snell; his five great-grandsons, Gaige, Shawn, Ethan, Kaleb and Dylan; and his brother, Rolland (Jean) Snell. He was preceded in death by his son, Tom; his daughter-in-law Linda Snell; and three brothers.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa in loving memory of Ted.
