Donald G. "Donnie" Mick

Donald G. Mick, 56, passed away Peacefully on August 10, 2019, with his sister by his side who was with him 24/7 from the time he was diagnosed. He was born November 14, 1962, in Des Moines to Bobby “Joe” and Mary Lou Mick.
Donnie was a true outdoorsman. He loved fishing, especially on the river, and mushroom hunting. Donnie was extremely proud of his niece and she was his finest protégé. He was a faithful fan of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Blackhawks. Anyone who knew Donnie, knew he couldn’t live without his Mt. Dew, oftentimes having 80 packs of it in his home. He was also known for his kind and gentle spirit and would be the first to offer help if anyone needed it. Above all else, Donnie loved his family and friends, and their time spent together.
Donnie is survived by his mother, Mary Lou Stout; sister, Sue Lynne Mick-Pohl; niece, Samantha Pohl; and his two cats, Law and Order. He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby “Joe” Mick as well as his grandparents, Glenn and Irene Cunningham, and Don and Ruby Mick.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 2-5 p.m., with a brief service at
3 p.m., on Saturday, August 17, 2019, at Highland Park Christian Church, 4260 NW 6th Drive in Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League or Caring Bridge in loving memory of Donnie.

So sorry to hear of Donnie's passing. I used to babysit Donnie and Sue Lynne every Saturday night in the late sixties, for a time. We had a lot of fun. God Bless you Donnie. Rest in peace.
