Jeff (Grumpy) Strahl, Sr.

Jeffrey Lyle Strahl, Sr., age 66, passed away Monday, August 5, 2019 at his home in Des Moines.

Jeff was born August 31, 1952 in Des Moines, Iowa to Samuel and Barbara Strahl. He met his wife, Debi and they married in 1977. Their family was blessed with six children. Jeff loved his family above all else. He was an extremely hard working man. He began his career with the Rock Island Railroad, then dedicated 37 years to Disaster Restoration. Outside of work, Jeff enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a Little League Baseball Coach for several years.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Debi; children, Scott, Jim (Sherry), Jeff Jr. (Jennifer), Amanda (Sean), Andrew (Megan), and Alyssa (Justin); siblings, Terry (Jo) and Kim; grandchildren, Adam, Logan, Zach, Jamie, Jacob, Mackenzi, Karson, Emma, Kaleb, Keagan, Truman, Paisley, Paityn, Karter, Averi, and Aubree, with Bailee on the way; great-grandchildren, Lainie and Kayden, with Gracie and Jaelynn on the way; and his faithful dog, Mickey.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Karen.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will be Friday, August 9, 2019 at 2:30 p.m., also at Hamilton’s. Cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
