Bryce Millikan
August 03, 2019
Bryce Preston Millikan was born December 9, 1956 to Dorothy and Dean Millikan. The youngest of six, Bryce appreciated a hard day’s work. He was employed by a country vet while he attended Bedford High School, and later learned the farming business at Central Iowa Farm Store, where he was employed for more than 30 years.
He built a family and loved his “girls”- Stacey, Brandi, and Wendy. His third act in life began when he met his wife Kathy, and his family grew to include Kathy’s sons Adam, Josh, and James; and Bryce and Kathy’s children together (the second litter): Taylor, Teon, and Breahna. Bryce and Kathy built a beautiful life, and enjoyed quality time with their huge, blended family. He fulfilled his dream of owning his own business, crafting custom decks, working with the sun on his back. He loved mowing his lawn, building his tree house, cheering on the younger kids at sports events, and attending his church.
We can barely begin to tell you all the things that Bryce loved with his whole heart, but here goes: He loved butterscotch schnapps in his Saturday morning coffee, telling a really good/bad joke, a perfectly organized parts counter, singing karaoke, playing bass with Sneaky Pete, puttering around his “garage-mahal,” strumming the guitar while sitting around a bonfire, admiring the stars on a clear Iowa night, sipping a Crown Royal with his sister Donna, talking tractors and crops with the oldtimers, “gooning” the young ones, the wind in his hair when he rode his Honda, then later the sun on his shiny dome as he rode his shiny Harley. Bryce loved playing cribbage, cooking up his weird chili, wrasslin’ with the grandkids, listening to live music, and bragging about his family.
At the end of his battle with cancer, he was brave, positive, and grateful for all God gave him. He was a man of faith, and he knew in his heart that he was walking into the arms of Jesus. Whether you knew him as Dingo, Grandpa, B-ryce, Dad, or just Bryce, he loved being surrounded by his friends and family, and he loved you.
Services will be held on Saturday, August 10th, 10:00 a.m., Grace Church, 4200 East 25th Street, Des Moines, IA 50317.
Memorials for the family can be sent to: Bryce (Dingo) Millikan Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 249, Bondurant, IA 50035. Family requests no floral arrangements.

Kathy and Family,
I'm so sorry for your loss. Bryce was truly one of a kind. I first met him in 1974. Even though I was just 10 years old & the obnoxious little brother to one of his friends he always had something to say to me or a joke to tell me. 2 years later he became my first boss when he hired me to help him in the parts department at the farm store in town. He became a better friend & mentor I could ever ask for, years & years of great memories, he will be missed by many of us.

The loss of Bryce diminishes a part of all of us who knew and had befriended him and were vigourously befriended in return.

We are so incredibly sad to hear of Bryce's passing. He was our neighbor in Melbourne for many years. We would hear him from our living room jamming with his Sneaky Pete buddies in the garage on a weekly basis and we loved it! It was a great mid week pick me up! He also taught our son the basics of guitar playing. Wonderful neighbor and friend. Our sincere condolences to all of his family!

I'm praying for your family during this difficult time. I knew Bryce from high school. He was a true gentleman and had the greatest smile and sense of humor. While we didn't keep in touch, it sounds like he found the perfect mate (Kathy) and had a wonderful family. Tuck all the good times you had in your heart, those will carry you through and be with you forever.
