Al Jacobsen

Al Jacobsen, 78, passed away on August 2, 2019 in Des Moines. He was born July 17, 1941 in Thief River Falls, Minnesota to Chris and Clara (LaVang) Jacobsen.

Al was always quick with a joke, and never met a stranger. He worked as a truck driver until his retirement. Al was a talented drummer, and enjoyed playing all over the country with various bands.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Cheri; children, Chris (Andrea) Jacobsen and sons, Zade, Peyton and Ivan; Candy (George) Miller and children, Heather, Jesse, Tyler and Frank; Debra (Dean) Herring and children, Michael, Christopher, Emmalee and Timothy; Edward (Laurie) Jacobsen and children, Mitchell, Colin and Brittany; sister, Barbara Zimmel; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Al was preceded in death by his brothers, LeRoy and Michael (in infancy); and his parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
