Lanny Caligiuri

Lanny Caligiuri, 71, passed away July 25, 2019 at his home.
Lanny was born February 26, 1948 in Des Moines. He graduated from East High School, where he was the quarterback of the football team. Lanny served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a Purple Heart recipient. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 38 years of service. Lanny enjoyed fishing and annual hunting trips with his cousins. He also enjoyed trips to Canada for the past 11 years, especially the ones with his grandkids. He loved to travel. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his grandkids.
Lanny is survived by his loving wife, Debbie; children, Lori Caligiuri, Christopher Caligiuri, Chad (Susan) Moede and Brian (Amanda) Moede; grandchildren, Brooke, Nicholas, McKayla, Maverick, Memphis, Bella, Mila and Millie; his siblings, Mike, Paula and Jane; good friend, Charlie; as well as a host of extended family and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Mildred Cook and Charlie Caligiuri and Lorraine Caldwell and his sister, Sherry.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street followed by burial at Norwalk Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Wounded Warrior Project in loving memory of Lanny.

Sorry to have heard about Lanny. Also sorry to have missed the visitation as I was out of town. I was lucky to have caught passes from Lanny in teh backyard when I was very young. My prayers are with you.

Deeply sorry for your loss. The loss of a loved one is a very difficult situation to deal with and I hope you can find some comfort in the Bible.
Revelation 21:4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.
