Helen Louise Burrows passed away peacefully in her home on July 22, 2019. She was born the daughter of William and Selma Sellers on December 22, 1922 in Boone, Iowa. Helen shared fond memories of growing up in Boone with her brother Wilbur and sister Margaret. She attended Marion Street Methodist Church and enjoyed roller skating at the Lake Robbins Ballroom. Helen was a graduate of Boone High School class of 1941 and after graduation worked at the Des Moines Ordnance plant in Ankeny, Iowa during WWII which later became the John Deere Des Moines Works. Helen was a homemaker for many years and later retired from
JCPenney’s.

She liked to read, sew, crochet and play Bingo and an avid fan of the Price is Right. Helen enjoyed cooking and cherished her family recipes. She always looked forward to having her grandchildren stop by to see her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 58 years, Dewey Burrows, Des Moines, Iowa and daughters Kaye (Mike) Watkins, Oshkosh, WI, Jody (Bill) Duke, Ankeny, IA Sheila Burrows, Des Moines, IA and son David (Desiree) Burrows, Indianola and brother Wilbur Sellers, Florida. Helen is survived by 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 12 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Cleanne (John) Woods, Lisbon, IA, son Michael (Midge) Craven, Columbus Junction, Iowa, grandson J.J. Woods, Lisbon, IA and sister Margaret Bass, Des Moines, IA.

Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice.

Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2019, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines with a graveside service immediately following at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
