Scott Sutherland
July 12, 2019
R. Scott Sutherland, 76 of Sebastian, Florida (formerly of Des Moines, Iowa), died Saturday, July 13, 2019 peacefully in his home with his wife by his side. There will be a celebration of life Saturday, July 20 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, IA from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., with a time of sharing at 2:30 p.m.
Scott was born and lived most of his life in Iowa before retiring and moving to Florida in 2002.
Scott was a Teamster (Local 147) for 25 years driving "pup pup" trailers throughout the Des Moines and surrounding areas. Prior to that he worked alongside his father at their car dealership selling new and used automobiles, his favorite being the Rambler.
Scott enjoyed his retirement years golfing, traveling the world with his wife and dear friends, but his favorite pastime was sitting by his pool watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, drinking a cold Old Milwaukee, and smoking a Bronson.
Scott will be waiting on the other side for Linda (Waldo), his best friend and wife of 26 years.
He is also survived by his daughter Kim (Jerry) Terrell and his other children Kristine and Brian Sutherland.
If you knew Scott, you know that he went by many names, but his favorites were Papa and Pops. He loved spending time with his grandchildren Zac (Tiffany) Mason, Hillary (James) Illingworth, and Anthony (Lauren) Crawford golfing, watching the Hawks, or just sitting still while they made his hair into one-of-a-kind masterpieces. He was also blessed with 3 step-grandchildren, their families, and the newest additions - his great-grandchildren Chloé, Maverick, Cora, and Willow.
He was preceded in death by his parents Glenn and Dorothy Sutherland, and his sister LeAnn.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to VNA Hospice, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, Florida 32960.

Kristy and Brian-so sorry for your loss. Your dad always made me laugh! I remember going to the warehouse where he worked and helping him load and we always got cake treats!

Judi and I went to school with Scott at North High in Des Moines. Spent time at 500 E. Euclid where he lived and yes he loved Ramblers. Great guy will be missed, but we all would have missed if we had not met him.
