We usually wait to announce our kids names until they are born, but when we received the diagnosis we chose to share our daughter’s name a little earlier than usual so that we could use her name for as long as we were able to have her with us! Shiloh is a name that we both like fairly well, but when we heard the meaning(s), it felt perfect! Shiloh means: 1. “Peace” and 2. “God’s Gift” Peace is not the word we would have used for this whole situation, but we have been reminded daily to trust the Lord and surrender this all to Him and he will provide us “PEACE that exceeds all understanding” Baby Shiloh is of course a gift, no matter how short our time with her was. Even though she won’t be able to grow up as part of her family, we believe her life is a gift no matter what. We believe growth for God’s kingdom will be the good gift through this trial. Shiloh is also the name of the place where, in the Old Testament, the Ark of the Covenant was kept. The ark was a chest that physically housed God’s Presence. This is a great reminder for us that God IS present in our suffering - no matter how much is hurts - and He wants to use it to draw us closer to Him. Even though we did not get the chance to bring our baby home, He ultimately has the best plan of all already worked out. Her middle name, Nayeli (nigh-ell-ee), literally means “I love you”. We chose this because, aside from all of the heart ache and fear and exhaustion that has resulted from this diagnosis - we simply love our little princess no matter what. We also want to thank all of the family, church family, and friends for the love and support during this time. So many of you have truly been His hands & feet supporting and walking alongside us during our journey
