Service Details

Jim went home to be with his Savior on March 7, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Thursday at Christ the King Catholic Church with visitation on Wednesday from 5-8 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home. A Rosary service will be held 7 PM Wednesday night at the funeral home.
Jim was born July 27, 1953 in North Platt, Nebraska and graduated from Dowling High School in 1971 where he excelled in sports and academics. Everyone who knew Jim had heard the numerous stories of his football and track career. Jim held many records at Dowling and attributed his success to the lessons he learned from his mentor and coach Jim Williams. After graduating from Dowling High School, Jim played college football and was asked to try out for the Denver Broncos. Jim was inducted into the Dowling High School Hall of Fame on October 26, 2007, for his outstanding achievements as an athlete. The night of his induction was one of many proud moments in Jim’s life.
After graduating from college, Jim worked for Casey’s General Stores where he met many life long friends. He owned several bars before opening American Bail Bond’s, which he turned into a lucrative business. He always maintained a tenacious spirit and was determined to fulfill his life. During his athletic career as a young man, he set high standards of achievement that he carried into his professional life, influencing those around him to follow suit. Even through his struggle with cancer, Jim always had a profound effect on people with his humor and quick wit.
Jim is survived by his wife Christine; two stepsons Tyler (Lacie) Kinney and Travis Goodrich; a grandson Cameron; his mother Janet Power; brother Mark Kramer; sisters Ann Lasswell and Mary (Tom) Henss and six nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his father Eugene Kramer, his grandparents and one aunt.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to: Dowling Catholic Football Program, attention Coach Wilson. Christ the King Catholic Church, or John Stoddard Cancer Center.
