Service Details
John was born December 2, 1922. He lived most of his life active in many fields. He served as an elder in the Christian Church and taught Sunday School. He served on the Model Cities Board, Des Moines General Hospital Board, Easter Seals and Muscular Dystrophy boards and Sister Cities Board. He was Chairman of the Midwestern Legislative Council and Council of State Governments. He was President of Local 4 Des Moines Fire Fighters and secretary-treasurer of the Iowa Association of Professional Firefighters, President of the Iowa Golden Gloves and has the Iowa Franchise. Currently John was serving on the Iowa Board of Nursing. He gained an immense knowledge serving on these boards along with a lot of new friends.
His love of music brought him to the Saturday With Roberts program each week on KRNT. He enjoyed this very much for about 14 years.
John was a people person and never forgot where he came from.

My thoughts and prayers are with all the Connors family. John was a person whom was blessed with the ablity to express the thoughts and feelings of the average people he represented. He always set a great example for everyone.

Marge, my sincere sympathy on your loss. As you know, John and I were often or opposite sides of issues, but he was always gracious and fair. Fair and tough described him, and I am proud to have called him a friend.

Marge and family,
My deepest sympathies to you and the kids. I will miss seeing John's smiley face whenever I would happen to run into you both. I have let mom know and she was quite shocked to hear of this. She thought a great deal of you both.

John will be greatly missed. John was a great representive for the people of Des Moines. He was a great friend to my parents, Don and Donna Joelson.
We will keep the Connor Family in our prayers. John always gave positve feedback/comments.... God Bless

Dear Marge.
I am sorry to hear about John. You and John have always been an inspiration to me. I thought it two people could have an almost perfect marriage, it was you and John. Of course, I know that is not possible, because we are only human, but you and John were wonderful examples of what a marriage is all about.
