Betty Marie Neel

Betty Neel, 69, died at her home Monday, March 2, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with burial in Chariton, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Betty was born September 13, 1939 in Des Moines to Hugh and Pleathy (Cox) Barton. She worked for 15 years at Smity’s Donut Shop and eights years in data entry for CDS before her retirement in 2002. Betty enjoyed playing games, especially BINGO.
Betty is survived by her lifetime partner, Dennis Polen; son, Charles (Tonia) Neel; daughters, Kim Neel and Michelle (John) Polen-Sharp; brother, Lee (Rosemary) Barton; sister, Carol Rhodes; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jerry Barton; sister, Deana Foster; and infant granddaughter, Katelyn Sharp.
