Kenneth Sorensen

Kenneth Sorensen, age 77, passed away February 28, 2009 from complications of cancer at his home. Kenneth was born in Iowa City on November 24, 1931. He married his wife, Delores on November 10, 1951.
Kenneth served in the Air Force, was a meat department manager of Pidgeons and Hinky Dinky stores for many years. He retired from Johns Auto Sales in 2006 after 27 years of service. His favorite pastime was being in his back yard, cooking on the grill for his family.
Kenneth is survived by his sons, Greg (Paula), Curtis, Chris (Sheryl); daughters, Sheila (Steve) Vitiritto and Kennette (D.J.) Bowers; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Wendell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores and his son, Marty.
Memorial contributions may be made to Highland Park Lutheran Church in loving memory of Kenneth.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th, Des Moines, with burial at Pine Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
