Donald Koroch

Donald Koroch, 85, died Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2009 at Westkirk Presbyterian Church, 2700 Colby Woods Dr. Burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St.
Donald was born March 22, 1923 in Pipertone, Michigan. He was an educator and coached wrestling, football and baseball at Lincoln and North High Schools. Donald was a member of Westkirk Presbyterian Church, NEA, ISHAA, DMEA, AARP and he was a Mason. He served as the first President of AARP.
Donald is survived by his wife, Joyce; children, Carol (Blake) Sparland, Steven (Pat) Koroch, Cathy (Bob) Haedt and Debbie Renken; sister, Dorothy Pierce; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one on the way; and many other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Charles; brothers, Ken and Jake; and his parents.
