Linnea Allen Holmer

Dr. Robert T. Brown,
My name is Linnea Holmer, I was Linnea Allen and my parents, Merwyn and Dorothy, were long time friends of Harvey and Evelyn. My Dad and Evelyn must have been high school classmates as Dad was born in Ankeny in 1912. I grew up in Creston and we spent an occasional night with the Sexauers when we came to Des Moines. The adults played bridge. I think we kids just played. Jo was a couple years older than I. I can remember many times going home with some great hand-me-down clothes from her. I do also seem to remember that your family lived next door! I know that you and Jo were married on Dec. 21, 1963 because I played the piano at your reception. Jo gave me a letter opener with the date engraved on one side and my name on the other. That is used every day when the mail comes! My husband, Mark, has often commented that is one of the nicest rememberances from a wedding that we have! I have many fond remembrances of Harvey, Evelyn and Jo. I was not aware that Jo had died.
My husband and I live in Algona. He is a retired Lutheran pastor, currently serving on a very part time basis, an Episcopalian church. I kept using my musical skills and have taught piano and been a church musician for years and years, still going. It was chance that Mark saw Evelyn's obituary in the newspaper. Thought I should take the opportunity to touch base one last time. My mom passed away over 30 years ago and my dad, about 5 years ago.
Our sympathy to you and your family.
