Bernadine Lassiter

Bernadine Lassiter, 73, was born December 21, 1935 in Waukee, Iowa. She passed away Sunday, February 22, 2009 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Bernadine was an office clerk at Montgomery Wards as well as the longtime secretary of the Vittoria Lodge Auxiliary. She was a member of the Grimes American Legion Auxiliary and St. Mary’s of Nazareth Catholic Church. Bernadine was an avid Hawkeye fan and enjoyed spending time with her grandson. She and her husband Robert sold wandas at farmers markets and enjoyed traveling with their children.
Bernadine is survived by her son, Larry (Matt Mahan) Lassiter of Dallas, TX; her daughter, Julie (Jeff) Jennings of Des Moines; a grandson, Jake Jennings; and a brother, Ildo John (Cathy) Rossi of West Des Moines, IA; sister in laws, Doris Jean Jensen and Larrie Ann (Jim) Wilkinson. Bernadine was preceded in death by her husband Robert Lassiter, Jr., her parents, Lorenzo and Natalina Rossi, and a sister in Italy.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 27, 2009 at St. Mary’s of Nazareth, 4600 Meredith Drive, Des Moines, with burial following at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, with a 7 p.m. vigil service.
