Service Details
Gary Lee Hutzel, 72, went to be with his Heavenly Father on, February 20, 2009.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM, Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St., Des Moines, IA. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will occur Monday evening at the funeral home from 5-8 PM.
Gary was born September 8, 1936 to Berneice Neuendorf and Benjamin L. Campfield in Des Moines, IA.
Gary was retired from MidAmerican Energy after 45 years of service. He enjoyed traveling, fishing and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Gary leaves behind his loving wife of 54 years, Dixie L. Hutzel (Colegrove); his seven children, Vickie (JR) Simmons, Debbie (Conrad) Harrison, Melanie (D. Michael) Current, Dixie (Jerry) Moll, Tammie Wood, Jeannie Pederson, and his only son, Gary D. (Sara) Hutzel; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers, Larry (Dixie), Bob (Connie) and Jerry; sister, Francis (Gene).
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Virginia Dudley.

we are brandy's in laws, sending our prayers and you being in our thoughts. we had the pleasure of meeting you at nick and brandy's wedding last july, what a happy memory and i set a place for gary outside on the balcony where he could over look the wedding ceremony..we send you our deepest sympathy at this time of the loss of your loved one..jan and everett (nick's parents)
