Service Details

Marjorie “Kathryn” McGregor, 67, slept away to be with the Lord on January 12, 2007 at her home.
Kathryn was born in Des Moines, Iowa on March 19, 1939 to Anna Mae and George Robert Williams. At an early age Kathryn was very gifted in writing and wrote letters to her uncle whom was fighting in the war. Kathryn graduated from East High School in 1957 where she was quite the athlete. In 1976 Kathryn met Reverend Jeremiah Reed and she repented and was baptized in Jesus name and filled with the Holy Ghost and from that point on, her life became the church. She did many things while being a member at the church and loved to back her pastor up and help any ministry that the Lord pointed him in. Kathryn was a great help to her husband Kenny in his three main businesses, Ken’s Trash Removal Service, Saylorville Lake maintenance, and Iowa Junior Careers ‘aka’ United Youth Careers, Inc. Kathryn’s loves were her children and grandchildren and helping anyone that approached her. She also loved to help her husband remodel houses, reading her newspaper clippings, nurturing her plants, and looking at her photos which were all around her. Kathryn will always be remembered for her generosity and her beautiful handwriting.
Kathryn leaves to mourn her memory, her loving husband, Kenneth N. McGregor, Sr., daughters, Anna (Harvey) Ricks, Lillie (Antonio) Ward, Marjorie Watson, McGregor sons, Kenneth Jr., Everett Sr., David, Kevin, Robert Sr., Terry Sr. (Kim), Jermaine. 26 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Two foster children, LaVern Jr. and Yvonne Campbell, and her niece, Stephanie. Her brothers, David (Ameda), and Jerry Williams, and her sister and best friend Grace Moore. Her aunt, Marjorie “Marie” Williams and her cousin (like-sister), Mary Jane Bates. Many in-laws and relatives and her church family that she loved dearly. Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, her eldest baby James F. Ewing Jr., some sisters and brothers and her grandbaby Harvey L. Ricks Jr.
One thing that will always stick in the minds of anyone that was around mom is that she always said, “There is no Ken without Kat.” This sentiment has really been shown.
Memorial contributions may be given to her church on behalf of Apostolic Oneness Network. Christ Apostolic Temple, 1230 E. 17th St. Des Moines, Iowa 50316.
