Mr. Sang Ngoc Nguyen was born on April 6, 1932 in Rack Kien Long An, a small rural town in Viet Nam. His dad passed away when he was very young. He had 2 older sisters and 1 younger brother. He and his brother helped support their mom from an early age while still committed to studying at Rach Kien school. After graduating high school, he went to Saigon City alone to study radio and television at the Cao Thang technology school. Later, he enlisted to South Vietnamese Air Force and was sent abroad to study television technology in France. He worked at Ground Data Signal Collection Corps 65. and got married back in Viet Nam after he returned from France. In 1975, he was promoted as captain until the fall of Saigon in 1975 where he became imprisoned in a concentration camp until 1982.

He came to United States in 1993 and became well-known for the Mekong Sandwich a sandwich shop which he and his wife built and operated until his wife passed away in 2000. He decided to retire from there. He was involved in a lot of Vietnamese community activities and was also the South Vietnamese Veteran President.

Sang passed away on July 4th, 2019 at 7:00 pm. In the United States, Sang is survived by his daughter, PhiVan Nguyen and his sons Viet Hoang Nguyen, Viet Lac Nguyen, Bill Nguyen, Kevin Nguyen in United States. He also leaves nine grandchildren Minh Pham, Ha Pham, Victoria Viet Nguyen, Clair Viet Nguyen, Snow Viet Nguyen, Lynn Viet Nguyen, Clarence Viet Nguyen, Jimmy Viet Nguyen and Jackson Viet Nguyen; and 1 great grandson Nguyen Le.

In Viet Nam, he is survived by his sons back in Viet Nam, Viet Quoc Nguyen, Viet Truc Nguyen. He leaves four grandchildren and three grand great children, Phuong Viet Nguyen, Long Viet Nguyen, Ngoc Viet Nguyen, Hoang Viet Nguyen.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Sunday July 7, 2019 and 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday July 8, 2019 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at the funeral home followed by a procession to Hamilton's Crematory, 121 NW 60th Avenue.

Burial of cremated remains will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday July 10, 2019 at Resthaven Cemetery, 801 19th St, West Des Moines.
