Stephen Sullivan

Stephen Edward Sullivan, 69, passed away on July 4, 2019 at home. He was born in Creston, on September 6, 1949, to Vincent and Anna (Gorman) Sullivan.

Steve graduated from Creston High School in 1967, he married Kathleen Lauer on April 20, 1974. Steve worked as an automotive machinist in both Creston and Des Moines until opening and operating his own business – SS Custom Engines. He built motors for a variety of vehicles ranging from drag cars to collector cars to go-karts. Steve was an avid NASCAR and F1 racing fan. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, often times giving his produce away. Steve was a member of SS John and Paul Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Stephen is survived by his loving wife Kathleen; sister, Andrea Prescott and three nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents and infant brother.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 from 9:00-11:00 a.m., at SS John and Paul Catholic Church, 1401 1st Ave South, Altoona, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. following visitation. Interment will take place at Rising Sun Cemetery.
