Dorothy Nadine Queener, 93, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2019, at Mercy West Lakes. She was born on December 10, 1925, in Eagleville, Missouri.
Dorothy attended kindergarten in Leon, Iowa. Her family moved to a farm during the Depression where she attended a one room school house through the eighth grade. Prior to her graduation from Knoxville High School, she married her high school sweetheart, John Queener, before he left to serve in the United States Army during WWII.
Dorothy was a member of the Assembly of God church. She enjoyed traveling with John, playing Bingo, and tending to her many flower gardens. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family and doting on all of her grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Dave (Janice) Queener; grandchildren, Jennifer (Mark) Tylavsky, Kelly Queener, David (Monica) Queener, John (Brianna) Rumbaugh, Robert Rumbaugh, and Chandra Rumbaugh; great-grandchildren, Katherine, Caleb, Clara, Carsten, Cory (Kelcie), Alyssa, Alexis, Conner, Lexi, Brooklyn, David III, Joanna, Eli, Jaden, Chloe, Charlie, Cheyenne, and Chrissy; great great-grandchildren, Casen, Carter and Sage; special nephew, Jim (Janne) Nelson; nieces and nephews, Cathy (Craig), Rob (Sherri), Debbie, and Becky; as well as other loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Mary Brooks; husband, John; daughter, Mary (Melvin) Rumbaugh; great-granddaughter, Autumn Queener; and her brother, John (Jean) Brooks.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2019, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines with visitation held one hour prior to service time. A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

I was with you when your Angle came for you. I know you are having the biggest homecoming celebration. Even though we will miss you so much, you are where we all want to be. As the Mercy Me song says " I can only Imagine". Tell everyone, we'll be along soon. I Love You
