Donna Lorraine Harms, age 75, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at her home.
Donna was born January 18, 1944 in Des Moines, Iowa to Dwight and Nina Littlejohn. She was adopted by Louie and Ruth Schwandt in 1949. Donna grew up on the family farm in Blairsburg, Iowa. She was proud to be a farm wife and raised her family on their farm in Alden, Iowa. She was a daycare provider for over 30 years and adored all the kids she cared for. She was a loving, giving person and her family was her pride and joy. She had a green thumb and enjoyed plants and gardening. In her younger years she loved dancing, the rodeo, and going for motorcycle rides. Her talents included crafts, knitting, baking and cooking.
She is survived by her children, Donald Gimzo, Mike (Pam) Gimzo, Tim Gimzo, Terry (Brett Mote) Harms, Threase (Rick Wagaman) Harms, and Tracey Harms, 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and many extended family and friends.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and her husbands, Wayne Harms and Pete Gimzo.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2019, also at the funeral home.
In remembrance of Donna, memorials may be made to Amanda the Panda.

May you go rest in Peace, and may you and my Mom, your friend join hands in heaven. Party like you both did back years ago. Donna you were an remarkable lady that always took your family to heart. You done an amazing job raising g your two beautiful granddaughters to become the bright brilliantly beautiful girls that they are today. I will always remember you and the beautiful generous heart and soul that you would always share with many others.

I will always remember you as being the strength of your family. You were the glue that, kept them together. I always admired you for that, but never told you. If only every mother on earth could be like you the world would be so much better but, it's not that way. You were a legend. One of kind. Rest in peace sweet lady.
