Floyd Houser Sr., 92, passed away Friday, February 13, 2009 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Floyd was born to Carrie Mae and Charles Monroe Houser on May 17, 1916 in Polk City.
Floyd was a farmer and worked maintenance at Firestone until his retirement in 1981. He served in the US Army until his honorable in 1945.
Floyd was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Polk City, the American Legion, VFW, Senior Citizens, Polk City Historical Society, and Firestone Retirees.
He is survived by his daughter, Beverly Easter; son, Bill Houser; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Alice; sister, Edna Fontana and a brother, Ray Houser.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, with burial to follow at the Union Cemetery in Polk City. Visitation will be 5 – 7 p.m. on Monday, February 16, 2009 at the funeral home.
