Diana Griffiths

Diana Griffiths, 60, passed away at Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House on February 10, 2009. Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 14, 2009 at Lutheran Church of the Cross, 1701 8th Street SW, Altoona with burial at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines. Visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2009 at the church.
Diana was born August 25, 1948 to Helen and Donald Cain in Des Moines. She graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Diana dedicated 38 years of her life to teaching in the Southeast Polk School District. She taught both 4th and 6th grades at Runnells and Willowbrook. Diana was a member of both the Lutheran Church of the Cross and Ivy Methodist Church. One of Diana’s favorite things to do was playing cards with her family. They always played bridge, canasta, 500 and pitch. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs fan. Diana also enjoyed traveling. Her lifetime goal was to visit Ireland which she did on St. Patrick’s Day. Diana had a love for books and was continually involved in book clubs.
Diana is survived by her husband, Joe; her daughter, Autumn Pingel (Lucas); son, Neal Griffiths; brother, Ron Cain; sisters, Vicky Ingertson, Peggy Card, Debbie Schaffer. She is preceded in death by both of her parents.
