Johnathan Jay “Buddy” Mendenhall, II, 53, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center.
John was an over the road truck driver for over 20 years. He was a loving man that enjoyed the company of family and friends. John was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving children, Megan Mendenhall and Johnathan Jay Mendenhall III; and his brother, David.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of John.

Bo and Meghan.....Your dad brought so much to all of us. I wish you both much happiness and time to process your grief. Your dad was a very special person and he enjoyed life to the fullest and I hope you both will too. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. It was a blast being your neighbors and friends. Dear Bo,Megan, Karen, & my Dad David,
I am so sorry that this has had to "BUDDY", I am so sorry that I have lost touch with his children. Megan I am glad you have a man in your life, you have moved on. Bo, yes I did recognize you, but I did not know if you were wanting to talk to me. For that I am so sorry, Mr. I am having you over for dinner & a weekend getaway. I truly hope you can forgive me. You were allway's a good boy. Noone has really given you credit for anything except Grandma Vi, & Your Mother. (Remember your Mother is allway's your best friend)
Megan if you ever wish to visit DesMoines, Honey you have a place to stay. Wayne & I have plenty of room & food.
KAREN, I have lost contact with you. We have been throughe alot, but we are adults & yes!!! You too will be over after everything is done! I have made a promise to myself! this is your promise too!
Dad, I am so glad what you did last thursday, you allway's shock us!
Damn You, Keep up the surprises & good work!

David...and then there was one. The big brother us girls never had. If Pat hadn't started out as my friend in school all those years ago, we wouldn't have had you, or Buddy, or your mom, in our lives. I'm so very sorry for your loss. I didn't know Buddy's kids, I'm sure they are wonderful. Thinking of you. Take care.
