Geraldine Benson

Dolly, 87, died February 6, 2009, at Riverview Care Center.
She was born February 7, 1921, the daughter of John and Agnes (Eagan) Lloyd.
She was a graduate of Lincoln High School.
She married Ralph Benson Jr. on May 22, 1941.
Primarily a homemaker, after raising her children she was employed by King’s Food Host and retired from ARA Food Services at Broadlawns Medical Center.
She was a wonderful cook, a loving mother, a devout Catholic and an inspiration to all of her children.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca “Becky” (Elmer) Walker of Des Moines; her sons, Ralph (Laurain) of Hudson, CO; Ron, Rick, Rod and Ray, all of Des Moines; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a recent great-great grandson. She is also lovingly remembered by her former daughter-in-law Janine Benson (Rick) of Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991, her parents, seventeen siblings and her grandson Timothy Walker.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at the Basilica of Saint Johns with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery with a luncheon provided by the Rosary Society following the burial at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Basilica in loving memory of Dolly.
