Kent Aschan, 46, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Taylor House. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 9, 2009 at Des Moines First Assembly of God Church, 2725 Merle Hay Rd. with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Kent was born January 20, 1963 in Des Moines to Terry and Margaret Aschan. He worked for Metro Appliance. Kent was a friendly people person who loved and lived life to the fullest, even during his battle with cancer. He enjoyed square dancing, which is where he met his wife and he was a former square dance caller.
Kent is survived by his wife, Jerri; children, Josh, Jacob and Breana; brothers, Terry Jr., Mark, Sr., Eugene and Kevin Aschan; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for his children’s college funds.

What a shock when I checked the obituaries this evening
to find Kent had passed away. Prayers are with you

I just wanted to send my thoughts and prayers to your family. In a very weird and ironic world, my father, Keith Reichert, was directly across the hall from Kent at Taylor House. I believe that Kent and Keith died within minutes of each other. It looked like Kent had a lot of loving friends and family that came and saw him that last evening, as well as my dad did. Keep your faith in the Lord and know that he is now dancing in heaven!
