Richard Miles

Richard Eugene Miles, 83, died Monday, February 2, 2009 at Clarissa Hospice House in Bettendorf, IA. Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St, with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial will occur at a later date at Resthaven Cemetery.
Richard was born April 18, 1925 to Mont and Mamie Belle Miles in Des Moines. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Richard was a self employed contractor with window installation and siding application until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. Richard lived his whole life in Des Moines until he moved to Durant in 1998.
Richard is survived by his children, Randy (Sherri) Miles of Des Moines, Craig Miles of Des Moines and Jacqueline Hayden of Iowa City; step-sons, Bob (Mary) and Archie Sorenson of Quincy, IL and Ed Schell of Des Moines; step-daughters, Sherry (Ed) Bishop of Des Moines and Connie Cooper of Indianola; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren, 24 step-great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine; son, Mike; sister, Dorothy Stodgel; brother, Keith Miles; and one great-granddaughter.
