Mary Jane Erskine

Mary Jane Erskine, 93, of Des Moines passed January 26, 2009 at home. She was born February 17, 1915 in Bradley, Illinois to Robert and Elizabeth “Alice” Erksine.
Mary Jane moved to Des Moines in 1922 and graduated from East High School in 1933. She retired from Iowa State Travelers Insurance after working there for 40 years. Mary Jane was a member of Cornerstone Community Church in Johnston and enjoyed volunteering at Willowbrook Bible Camp for many years. She also enjoyed doing embroidery.
Mary Jane is survived by her nephews, James (Janet) Lyons of Montgomery Village, Maryland and James Osmundson of Trout Lake, Washington; her niece, Jane (Dan) Shea of Topanga, California; her great-nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, James Erskine; her sisters, Elizabeth Lyons, Miriam Osmundson, Jeane Lewis and Ruth Jennings; her nephews, Robert Lyons and Robert Osmundson.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue; visitation will be 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Oralabor Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Willowbrook Bible Camp in loving memory of Mary Jane.
