Kenneth Minard

Kenneth Simeon Minard, 86, a lifetime Des Moines resident entered into rest with Jesus on January 29, 2009 at the home of his daughter, Linda. He was surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Kenny was a proud World War II Army Veteran. He worked most of his life as an optician and retired from the Des Moines Post Office.
Kenny will be lovingly remembered by his son Steve (Renee) Minard; daughters, Linda George and Kim (Ross) Hollander; grandchildren, Kelly, Steve, Chad, Shelby, Michael and Maggie; many great-grandchildren; brother, Jack (Tina) Minard; many nieces, nephews and special friends. He will be laid to rest with his childhood sweetheart and loving wife, Dorothy. He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Mike George.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 1, 2009 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th St., Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 2, 2009 at Park Avenue Christian Church, 3219 SW 9th St. in Des Moines where military rites will be performed. Private family only burial will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice Johnston in loving memory of Kenny.
