Barbara Ann Ruggles, age 77, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2019.
Barbara was born September 27, 1941 in Franklin Township, MI to Samuel D. Bond, Sr. and Hazel (Summerford) Bond. Formerly a resident of Des Moines, she moved to Waterloo in 2015. Barbara married Robert Gene Ruggles who precedes her in death. She worked as a sales associate for J. C. Penney for 17 years in Des Moines and Centerville, Iowa. She was a member of Three Lakes Church and Crossroads Assembly of God Church. Her hobbies included collecting oil lamps and tea pots, tending her flower garden, and journaling. She also loved feeding the birds and squirrels, and watching the wildlife.
Barbara is survived by her son Brian Gray (Lisa), daughters Nancy Andreas (Rick), Christine Bennett (Tim), and Margaret Johnson (Trent), step-children Bradley Ruggles and Julia Loomis (Matt), 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, brothers Charles Bond (Nancy) and Timothy Bond, and numerous extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, son John Gray, step-son Michael Ruggles, brother Samuel D. Bond, Jr., sisters Becky Bond and Betty Willnow, and her parents Samuel Sr. and Hazel Bond.
Services will take place at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 10th. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 11th. Burial will take place at Rose Cemetery in Graysville, MO at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Crossroads Assembly of God Church, 3205 Bethel Street, Waterloo, IA in loving memory of Barbara.
