Eleanor "Scatter" Noel
May 31, 2019
Eleanor was born September 12, 1917 in Akron, Ohio to Vivian and Dr. Clinton McLane Scatterday. She graduated with a BA degree from Akron University. She married Raymond G. Noel on October 14, 1939 and they shared 66 years before Ray’s death November 29, 2005.
Eleanor loved life and loved people and she led a very active life. Her volunteer activities started while she was still in high school. She worked with young under-privileged children at the YMCA. In the summers, she was a camp counselor. From then on she has always included volunteer activities in her busy life. In the recent past for 18 years, she was a resident advocate at Fountain West Care Center, volunteered weekly at the Wesley Adult Day Center for 15 years, and at the visiting ministry committee at Plymouth Church. She also served on the board of Plymouth Place.
At church she has chaired the Trustees, the Deacons, and the Women’s Fellowship. She was also a member at large and served as a Stephen Minister. She also supplied all of the programs for the Plymouth Women for 10 years.
Her occupational activities included modelling in Akron, Dallas, and Des Moines, working as a receptionist for physicians in Akron, and then Social Work for the Children’s Bureau in Indianapolis. She also was a supervisor of the Home Health Aids for 20 years with the organization “Wesley Life” in Des Moines.
Her social life included three bridge clubs, HF chapter of PEO Frisbee Club, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Junior League, Book Club and Marathon Bridge at the Lodge of Ashworth. She also attended the Des Moines Women’s Club, the American Home Club, Willow Creek Women’s Club, and the Billiard Belles.
Eleanor and Raymond moved to the Lodge of Ashworth on June 1, 1999 where she immediately became involved with her monthly “Scatter Shows,” 193 in all. She enjoyed co-chairing Bridge and the Billiard Belles also leading Bingo and “Oh Shoot” and playing ping pong, pool, and golf.
She is survived by her daughters Michele Page and Linda (Patrick) Bennett; grandsons Anthony Mustacci and Christopher (Jami) Mustacci; and two great-grandsons Adrian and Dominic Mustacci.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday June 7, 2019 at 1:30 P.M. at Plymouth Church, 4126 Ingersoll Ave in Des Moines, Iowa.

Eleanor was my role model. I admired her grace, moral strength, spirit of service to others, and joie de vie. She certainly lived a life to be celebrated! My thoughts are with her friends and family.

To Michele, Linda and Pat, Tony , Chris and family.
It is with great sadness that I am writing this post. My family and I are unable to attend the funeral service for Aunt Eleanor, as it is being held on the same day that our first grandchild, Adam, is receiving his "white coat" from UMKC Dental school here in Kansas City. Although this is a difficult choice to make, Adam's advancement ceremony is an event that I know in my heart Aunt Eleanor would want us to attend. I so wish we could be with you in her beautiful church in Des Moines, celebrating her life. We are going to miss our trips to visit Eleanor, as well as meeting so many of her wonderful friends. Eleanor really understood the value of friendships. In closing, a very special "thank you" to John, Gordy, Carl and Denise for being with Eleanor when she passed. I am certain that Eleanor knew where she was going, and it makes me so happy to think of her being with my Uncle Ray and my Mom and Dad. I, and my husband, Stephen send love and prayers to all.
