Service Details
Irene Francois, 99, died Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Senior Suites of Urbandale. A graveside service will be held at Glendale Cemetery on Friday, May 31 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Celebration of her life at 2:00 p.m. at Senior Suites, 4700 84th Street in Urbandale.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Francois.

The news of the death of Irene called back many memories among now retired Drake faculty of Irene's involvement in Drake Dames and how she made newcomers feel welcomed at Drake. The news also brought back memories of Bill's devotion to her and the love they shared. After several years, the lives of retired faculty and their spouses and the contributions they made to University life too often are forgotten as new students and new faculty have had no contact with them. But Irene and Bill will long be remembered and appreciated by the colleagues and students privileged to have known them.
