Patricia Cannon
May 19, 2019
Patricia L. Cannon passed away May 19, 2019, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. She was born April 5, 1941, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Ivan and Lois Fetzer.
Pat graduated from North High School and attended Iowa Methodist Medical Center School of Nursing. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the College of St. Francis and Master of Science in Nursing from Drake University.
Her loving and compassionate personality was highly valued when she began her 35-year career as a labor and delivery nurse, something she did with great pride and excellence. Patricia also worked as an educator at IMMC School of Nursing for many years. In retirement, she worked as a substitute nurse for the Johnston School District.
Patricia was united in marriage to Max Cannon in 1963 and shared 56 wonderful years together. She was active in Girl Scouts when her children were young and enjoyed many hobbies such as camping, cross-stitch, and watching sports. However, nothing could compare to the enjoyment she got from spending time with her family and friends.
Patricia is survived by her husband, Max; children, Shari (Alan) Cannon-Mackey of Austin, TX and Kris (Jeff) Enbusk of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren, Rachel Walker and Jakob Martin; her best friend of 60 years, Mary Robeson; beloved dog, Jules; as well as other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivan and Lois.
A celebration of life will be held from 5-7 p.m., on Thursday, May 23, 2019, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Private family service to be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League in loving memory of Pat.
