Dwight “Tom” Thomas Whistler, 68, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2019.
Dwight was born July 9, 1950 in Des Moines, Iowa to Guy and Ethel (Mills) Whistler. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. Dwight loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered as the man who could fix anything! He enjoyed cars and driving trucks. He was a self-employed car salesman and truck driver for many years.
Dwight is survived by his wife of 30 years, Violet; children, Robert (Christina) Whistler, Tabitha (Trevor) Meyers, Shelly Rivas, Sherry Harlan, Lee Ann Harlan, and Clifford (Kim) Harlan; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Judy (Steve) Cardis; and many extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Guy Whistler; mother, Ethel Hamilton; step-father, Byron Hamilton; and brothers, Ernie Whistler and Robert Whistler.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines. Memorial service will be 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2019, also at the funeral home. Burial of the urn will take place at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery after services.

We have Tom's family in our prayers. We are saddened by the loss. Tom worked many years for my family, he was a hard worker & extremely loyal to my grandfather Lewis Albaugh & uncle Melvin Albaugh.

So sorry to hear of Toms passing. He is at peace now in the hands of our Lord. Lots and lots of memories to cherish as us cousins grew up together.
