Ban Kavan

Ban Kavan passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Valley View Senior Living with her family beside her. She was 88 years old.

Ban was born and raised in Son La, Vietnam. In 1989, Ban immigrated to United States with her husband, Hom Kavan, and 3 children and settled in Des Moines, IA.

She was a selfless person whom worked hard for her family, whether they were near or far, and cared for her grandchildren. During her free time, she enjoyed gardening and sewing. She lived a quiet and meaningful life and was well loved by her family and friends.

Ban was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings. She is survived by her four children, Seua (Houang) Sixaythong, Khammanh (Phio) Kavan, Seuam (Sic) Cavan, and Kham (Vong) Kavan, 12 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. She will be missed dearly by all of them.

A Celebration of Ban’s life will be held at 4 pm, on Wednesday, May 22, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 121 NW 60th Ave, Des Moines, IA.
