Elaine Irene Birdsley, 85, passed away on May 16, 2019 in Ankeny. She was born June 11, 1933 to Leroy and Mildred (Vaugniaux) Makinson.
Elaine was a long time employee of Iowa Western Community College.
She is survived by her children, Karen (Patrick) Batten, Brian (Tammy) Birdsley and Jeff (Ann) Birdsley; grandchildren, Kyla (Jay) Rademacher, Andrew (Shanna) Batten, Katelin (Jake) Opitz, Amanda Birdsley, Marie (Eric) Villhauer and Quinn Birdsley; 4 great grandchildren; and siblings, Joyce and Frank.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; son, Michael; brother, Lee; and her parents.
Per her wishes, no formal services will be held.

Elaine put in a very good word for me when I applied for the Computer Center director position. She was a very caring person and I'm saddened to hear of her passing.

I did not know Aunt Elaine very well
but always enjoyed visiting with her
and Uncle at the Christmas Party's at Iowa Western.

My prayers are with the family of Elaine's. We use to go out to lunch each month with the retired IWCC secretaries. I always enjoyed her.
