Hazel Murphy

Hazel E. Laws Murphy Applegate, 89, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2009 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens., 121 N.W. 60th Ave.
Hazel was born June 29, 1919 in Lineville, Iowa to Alva Berry Duncan and Nina Lorraine (Shouldis) Duncan. She worked as a nurse at Iowa Methodist Medical Center until her retirement in 1974. Hazel enjoyed traveling, bird watching, flower and tomato gardening and dancing.
Hazel is survived by her children, Patty Weber, Dennis (Rose) Laws, David Laws, Mary Lou (Robert) Witt, Steven (Susan) Laws and Barry Laws: 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Frank Laws, Harry H. Murphy and Kenny Applegate; son, Gary Michael Laws; daughter, Kathy Fisher; twins; Nina Carol and Terry Lee Laws; brothers, Lyle and Cliff Duncan; and sister, Helen Waltz.
