Maxine Hope Wilcoxson Trammell

Maxine Hope Wilcoxson Trammell was born to Harv E. and Elia (Nancy Ellen) Taylor Wilcoxson on September 30, 1924, just outside Eagleville, MO. She was the youngest of eight children. Maxine passed away May 6, 2019 at Clearview Homes in Mt. Ayr, IA.

She grew up on a farm north of Eagleville, MO, where she enjoyed working on the family farm along with her dad. Maxine went to a one room school (Coates) until the 8th grade, then went to Eagleville for High School. While going to the Ottabine church, she met a nice looking young man (Leroy), who went home and told his mother that he was going to marry that red headed young lady. On May 28, 1941, they were married, to this union five children were born: Jennifer Sue, Terry Lynn, Judith Ann, Linda Lea and Diana Dea. After moving to Lamoni, she joined the (RLDS) Community of Christ Church and supported her husband in his ministry.

While at home taking care of the children and all the other chores that go along with being a mother and a wife, Maxine found the time to go back to school and graduated from Lamoni High School in 1950.

One of Maxine’s loves was cooking. She worked at Graceland in the food service department for 8 years and 8 years as a sight manager for Dacatur County Meals on Wheels. She also enjoyed cooking at church reunions and having a pig roast every few years for the extended family. Maxine enjoyed many hobbies, a few of them were leather working, sewing, and working with her flowers.

Preceding her in death were her husband for 69 years Leroy Trammell, parents Harv E. and Ellen (Taylor) Wilcoxson, siblings: Cleone Wren (Avis) Wilcoxson, Mary Dove Shields, Darl Lee (Twinkle) Wilcoxson, Lyla May (Fred) Easten, and Helen Elaine (Marvin) Stafford, and granddaughters: Sage Boswell and Shannon Boswell Breitenkamp.

Surviving are her children: Jennifer (Morris) Bowell, Terry (Linda) Trammell, Judy McGraw, Linda Boswell, Diana (Elmer) Stevenson. (Jennifer died on May 7, 2019, the day after Maxine.) She is also survived by her grandchildren: Chris (Leann) Boswell, Kendall (Carla) Boswell, Julie (Charlie) Young, Alisa (Bill) Yeager, Joseph (Tiffany) Trammell, Jennifer (Steve) Skansberg, Mark (Lori) Agnew, Stephanie (Brad) Kinney, Nichole (Rick) Brown, Tammy Stevenson, John (Angie) Stevenson, James Stevenson, Tom (April) Stevenson, and Joanna Stevenson (Mike Leonard); great-grandchildren: Colton Boswell, Bailey, Shania, and Boston Boswell, Taylor and Dillon DeLong, Michaela Young, Ashley (Nate) Chase, Leah Trammell, William Trammell, Mariah Berge (Ryan Welles), Tony (Savannah) Berge, Matt and Jake Shansberg, Nickolas and Kathryn Agnew, Coby and Makinzey Bates, Kallie, Dusty and David Kinney, Jordon Brown, Trent (Dawn) and Trevor Stevenson, Austin Stevenson, Sara and Ryan Stevenson, Garrett (Sydne) Kyra, Riley and Johnathon Stevenson, James Clapham and Clayton Stevenson; great-great-grandchildren: Kaleb and Brady Chase, Wylie, Tucker, Creek Bates, Payton, Addy and Reid Stevenson, Timothy and Ty Stevenson, Everett Green, Weston and Remington Stevenson; along with other family members and friends.

She will be missed by all her family members and many friends. Funeral service will be Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at Community of Christ Church in Lamoni, Iowa.
