Carl Sly

Carl Otis Sly, age 57, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2019 in the comfort of his own home, where he wanted to.
Carl was born April 17, 1962 in Des Moines, Iowa to Raymond G. Sly and Jeanetta (Braford) Bear-Schamerhorn. He worked as a truck driver for most of his life. He married Roxanna Patterson on November 19, 1982 and they were blessed with two children. Carl enjoyed old cars and watching television, especially “Street Outlaws,” “Judge Judy” and “Jerry Springer.” His grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Carl is survived by his wife, Roxanna Sly; son, Karl (Kim P.) and their children: step-son Zach, Raymond and Daltin; daughter, Kim and her son, Greyson; his Chihuahua dog, Coco; brothers, Mark Sly and Earl Schamerhorn; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jim Sly and sister, Becky McDonald.
According to Carl’s wishes, cremation will occur. A celebration of life gathering will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2019, at the Mingo Community Center, 100 East Railroad Street, Mingo, IA 50168.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Carl.

Carl you will be truly missed. I have known you for years I cant believe you are gone. I remember some funny moments that you, your family and my family had we have had good times now that you are gone your in no more pain Rest In Peace. Friend

WOW! guys I CAN NOT grab the thought that another Sly boy has left~~~I am so sorry and hope that your transition comes peacefully-----Roxanna -Carl and Kimmy and all those grandbabies blessings-----because memories are AWESOME~~~~
