Miss Den Hartog was the Weekday Religious Education Teacher when I was in third and four grade 1963-64 and 1964-65 in Luray Virginia. She rented at the home next to my family's home on High Street. When Christianity was removed from the school system we never knew where she went to. Read her obit in our town newspaper yesterday. My twin and I would sometimes mention her name to remember things, that won't be forgotten.

I had the privilege of getting to know Edna through Greater Burlington Prayer Fellowship. She became my dear freind. She loved the Lord and was such a prayer warrior for the Lord. She loved her family dearly and faithfully prayed for them and their needs that she was aware of and for them to have a close relationship with the Lord. She was a witness for the Lord where ever she was and she had such a heart to teach and lead by example. She had a heart to be used of God to touch those around her and to touch her community for Christ.

Edna Den Hartog was a dedicated colleague serving as Director of Christian Education at First Presbyterian Church, Burlington, Iowa during my ten years there as pastor. Hearing of Edna's ending this part of her life here on earth has me feeling something of a personal loss. It includes thanksgiving for Edna's sharing that part of her life with us.
May God bless Edna's family with faith and a comforting sense of thanksgiving!

Before there was a praise band at First Baptist Church in Burlington, there was Edna playing the organ. She played with incredible skill and feeling. What a wonder spirit she had.

Edna shared a dining table with my mother at Trinity Center at Luther Park. I so enjoyed her keen sense of humor and will miss seeing her every week. She was truly a gem.
