Jerry Todd

Jerry Todd, 56, passed away at home on April 21, 2019, after a short battle with cancer. He was born on January, 10, 1963, to Donald Todd and Janie Gates.
Jerry grew up in Des Moines. After graduation he served in the United States Army from 1983-1989. He married Carol in 1981. Jerry worked at the Hy-Vee Distribution Center in Chariton for nearly 30 years. He was a past member of HOG- Harley Owners Group, a current member of the Teamsters Union and a Denver Broncos fan. Jerry enjoyed bow hunting, gardening, gambling at Lakeside Casino and most recently began baking. Most of all, Jerry loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, especially hopping on the Harley with his youngest, Lizz.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 38 years, Carol; children, Sarah (David), Joshua (Holly) and Elizabeth (Brandon); mom, Janie Gates; siblings, Ronnie Todd and Cindy (Reggie) Kinney; 8 grandchildren, Gaige and Gaven Calkins, Gabbreyella Todd, Dawson Todd, Urijah Todd, Maddox Todd, Vincent Cooper and Broxxton Todd; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, April 26, 2019, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Thursday evening from 5:30-8:30 p.m., also at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for future designation.

Carol, I just found out Jerry has passed. My sympathies to you and the kids. I always admired Jerry. An honest guy with a huge heart. He will be greatly missed by many!

I am so sorry to hear about my friend Jerry. We graduated high school together . He was a Dearing soul that always had time for anyone . We laughed together often . May the Lord bless you and keep your family close.

Many prayers go out to family and friends. I went to school with Jerry and was able to reconnect at a reunion a few years ago. He was a kind and caring friend to many. I am so sorry for your lost.
