Cecile Irene (LaChance) Duquette, 78, passed peacefully from this world on January 15, 2009, in Altoona, Iowa.
Cecile was born in Saint-Romain, Quebec, Canada, on September 10, 1930, to Delvina (Deblois) and Archadius LaChance, the fourth of 11 children.
In 1953, she married Joseph Patrick Duquette. In their 55 years of marriage, they celebrated the lives of six children, 12 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Cecile settled for many years in Hardwick, Vt., where she was a faithful member of St. Norbert’s church. In 1998, she moved to Pleasant Hill, Iowa, to live with one of her children.
She loved to quilt and crochet, read, cook, play Bingo and cards, listen to country music, and enjoy nature through long walks. She will be mourned by her husband, Patrick; her children and their spouses, Norman and Ginger Duquette of Pine Bluffs, Ark.; Jerry and Jeanne Duquette of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; Madeline Ives of Waltham, Mass.; Ronald and Mischa Duquette of Osan, Korea; Robert and Doreen Mason of Stowe, Vt.; Jeff and Linda Rice of West Burke, Vt.; siblings Eva Rose LaChance of Sherbrooke, Quebec; Jeanette Patoine of Lyndonville, Vt.; Leo LaChance of Montreal, Quebec; and Bertha Isabelle of Nantes, Quebec; as well as her 21 grandchildren and great grandchildren
A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 19, at Hamilton Funeral Home in Altoona, Iowa. Internment will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Hardwick, Vt. (date to be announced).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Lung Association.
