Sara Mitchell
April 14, 2019
Sara Mitchell, 33, passed away on April 14, 2019, at the University of Iowa Hospital, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. She was born in Des Moines on March 23, 1986.
A generous, kind, and loving person, Sara was the most supportive daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and niece. She cherished her family, especially her nieces, Brynn and Paige. Sara was the family planner, giver of fun, and everyone’s biggest cheerleader.
Sara was a great friend to any and everyone, even if they were down on their luck. She enjoyed country music and attending concerts, but most often you could find her at a tournament wearing Grand View wrestling attire and supporting everyone.
Sara is survived by her parents, Jerry and Kim Mitchell; brother, Nick (Rachelle) Mitchell; nieces, Brynn and Paige; as well as a host of other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Carroll and Jean Eide, and her paternal grandparents, Dale Mitchell and Mary Towne.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2019, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 19, at Lutheran Church of Hope Ankeny, 520 NW 36th Street. She will be laid to rest at Jackson Township Cemetery in Owasa, Iowa.
Our family has lost our sweet Sara and there is a hole that can never be filled. In true Sara style, she left us while giving. She became a donor through Iowa Donor Network and gave the gift of life to eight individuals and their families.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Sara.

Thinking of you so much this week Sara. Mothers Day coming up and all my flowers need replaced. Last year you and your boyfriend Lucas Jackson planted all those flower boxes for me. This year I think your high school friend and neighbor Donna will be doing it for me??. Miss you so much??.

Always happy and always content, Sara was a smiling face w an easy laugh. She was thrilled being part of whatever was going on and could always be counted on. I will always remember Sara in a football jersey handing out water or doing whatever needed done for the team. She was a great person, unmatched in her selflessness in those days. Cheers Sara.

We are so sorry for your loss! If you ever need to talk, I'm here. I know you don't know me, but I too have lost a child! Sara had an infectious smile! She will be showing, not only my daughter, but everyone in heaven just how to give those smiles out!!!!?

Kim, so sad to hear of Saras passing. No mother should have to bury their child. My heart breaks for you. May God give you peace and comfort.

A few of my favorite things about Sara:
1. She was the ultimate comedian. Funny yet compassionate. She used her sense of humor to lift people up, never to tear them down.
2. She was as tender-hearted as she was tough. I admired her "do no harm/take no sh*t" mentality.
3. If you needed her, she'd be there. Didn't matter if it was in the middle of the night, two counties away. She'd make the trip. She looked out for those she loved, and she loved them fiercely.
4. She was one of the first people to wish me happy birthday, show up at a family member's funeral, or check in when things were rough. She kept my head above water during adolescence and beyond.
5. Her incredible parents and loving family. Their gatherings were always loud -- filled with love and laughter.
She was a diamond--strong, faceted, and radiant. May our memories of her shine through the darkest days.
