Lorraine “Lori” Dennis, 64, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2019 at her home in Des Moines.
Lori was born July 27, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois to Larry and Helen (Sheldon) Dennis. She was a selfless, giving person and loved her job as an in-home care giver. Lori previously lived in Hawaii where she was an accomplished scuba diver and underwater tour guide. The water has always held a special place in her heart.
She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters, Linda Shriver, Lisa Dennis and Kim Alanis; her brother, Lance Phipps; her long-time companion, Frank Martinez; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Dennis; mother, Helen Dennis Phipps; step-father, William Phipps; and her brother, Lawrence “Larry” Dennis.
There will be a celebration of Lori’s life at Union Park United Methodist Church, 2305 E 12th Street, Des Moines at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2019.
In remembrance of Lori, memorials may be made to Union Park UMC.

Oh my old friend, I just found out you passed! We had such a history. Even though I hadn't seen you since 1998 we were still in touch. Another friend just asked me if you'd passed and since you aren't ever on FB much I decided to investigate, and discovered your obit!
I never have written that book about all the dirty things I can make out of any comment.
You're definitely gone to young!

Lori was a great neighbor and friend. I'll miss waving hello across the driveway. A gentle loving soul gone too soon. She will not be forgotten.

Oh Aunt Lori, I miss you so much! You're the kindest, sweetest, most caring and giving person I know. It's hard to believe you're gone. May be gone, but NEVER forgotten. I LOVE YOU
